‘We were good until first goal’

Miroslav Djukic labelled the first 60 minutes of Valencia’s trip to Atletico Madrid as ‘good’, before reflecting on a collapse for the final half hour.

Los Che had held Los Colchoneros to 0-0 until the 59th minute, when Diego Costa netted the first of two goals from him, either side of a Raul Garcia effort for a 3-0 final scoreline.

“We played 60 good minutes where the team defended well. Following the first goal, it was ended. Atletico given space are lethal,” mused Djukic afterwards.

“I feel the potential is there, though, to pull this off. I have to keep working with the team. First we prepare for the midweek Copa del Rey tie with Nastic.

“It is evident that we lack offensive capability. We are not able to create danger, to scare opponents. The rival puts us under pressure and then with minimum fuss in defence, the world is enormous.”
