Unai Emery remarked on the value for Sevilla having defeated Freiburg and topped their Europa League group on Thursday.
Los Nervionenses progress through to the Round of 32 in the competition having topped Group H undefeated, after a 2-0 win in Germany, thanks to goals from Vicente Iborra and Raul Rusescu.
“It was a game in which we have had security and not suffered in defence. We have created our chances and overall I am pleased with the win and to finish first,” Emery stated afterwards.
“We continue along this path, growing with self-esteem and confidence, with participation and better opportunities for more players, to help us become a better collective.
“We know that for the wins, many people in Sevilla are happy and in that sense, with everything that has happened with [Jose Maria] del Nido [who resigned as President, facing a prison term], we have brought this joy.
“The win allows us to have continuity to what we are doing, we have this new optimism, regardless of who the new President is.”
