Pedro doesn’t want Arsenal, City

Pedro Rodriguez has earmarked Arsenal and Manchester City as the sides Barcelona would prefer to avoid in the Last 16 of the Champions League.

Barca assured their place in Monday’s draw for the first knockout stage of the competition as a seeded team thanks to yesterday evening’s 6-1 demolition of Celtic to top Group H.

Looking ahead to who they may face in the next round, Pedro has made clear it is the Premier League sides who are best to avoid.

“It's fairly obvious that Manchester City and Arsenal are the strongest teams we might be drawn against, and let's hope we have a bit of luck and avoid those two,” Pedro mused in conversation with Barca TV this week.

The forward also reflected on the team’s display against Celtic yesterday.

“We’re on the right track. The team is in good shape, physically fit, and ready to perform well in the games before Christmas. We kept the intensity high from start to finish.

“My form? I'm happy the way things are going, and being able to help the team. I feel comfortable, physically fitter, and confident.”
