Busquets: We have no doubts

Sergio Busquets has affirmed that Barcelona’s confidence remains intact, ahead of playing against Celtic tomorrow evening.

The Catalans host their Scottish opponents in Champions League Group H’s closing round of fixtures aware that a point will guarantee top spot and seeding for the Last 16 draw.

“Hopefully it will be a quiet game,” Busquets has mused to reporters pre-match.

“We have learned our lesson from last year.

“They have a style of play that is different to our and the faster we play the better, because they can close off at the back and that can then cost us a lot.

“If we have to gain more confidence, it is relative. We were not well in Amsterdam, but the defeats are a part of football.”

Barca head into the game after a period of increased scrutiny for recent defeats to Ajax and Athletic Bilbao.

“We have no doubts, but it is true that when we lose, it’s because we have done certain things not as well as normal.

“When you win, the mistakes are less obvious, but we don’t have any doubts about ourselves, the style, or the Coach. We are together and we know the line that we have to follow.

“The style is not negotiable for the characteristics of the team, but compared with years ago it is very difficult for the players, the opponents, it is impossible to match.

“If there had been a third defeat in a row, it would have been a long story. Everyone will have their opinion, but we have to put that to one side, we know what we have to do.

“It is too early to assess how the team is now and how we will be when we reach the end of the season. Last year we did not finish as well as the one before.

“We hope that within a few months, we are still in all the competitions fighting for the titles.”
