Khedira aiming for April?

AS report that Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira is on course for a preliminary return date of April.

The 26-year-old last week began recovery from surgery required on an anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained whilst on international duty in mid-November.

Based in the Bavarian village of Donaustauf, AS report that initial physio work has medical staff optimistic of a return to competitive action perhaps earlier than anticipated.

It was initially seen after surgery that the player’s entire season could be over and his place with Germany at the World Cup in Brazil in severe doubt.

However, one physio working currently with Khedira is quoted as telling AS: “If everything goes according to plan, Khedira will return to the pitch in April and will play at the World Cup.”

Khedira, who is working in Germany during the initial phase of recovery after making ‘several requests’ to Los Blancos, is currently working through three daily sessions of rehabilitation including therapeutic exercise and massage.
