‘Spain are stronger, but…’

Thiago Silva has mused that Spain are the stronger side than his Brazil heading into next summer’s World Cup, but that ‘Brazil is still Brazil’.

The Selecao are gearing up to host the 2014 edition of the competition, with the group stages to be drawn this Friday evening.

For Brazil’s captain, it is Spain who will be frontrunners, but that his side cannot be ruled out at all.

“Spain are stronger than us,” Silva has considered in today’s edition of L’Equipe.

“Not for having defeated them 3-0 in the Confederations Cup Final do we believe we are better than them. But Brazil is still Brazil, especially so given we are at home.”

The defender also spoke of next summer’s finals to Le Parisien.

“Every team will come to our home to try to eliminate us, so we must work harder to reach our goal. Winning the World Cup.”
