Khedira begins recovery

Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira has begun the first stage of his recovery after surgery on a medial and anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The 26-year-old went under the knife during mid-November’s international break, having suffered the injury to his knee whilst in action for Germany against Italy.

Reports now are that this week has Khedira starting the first phase of his recovery, which is expected to last as long as six months and has his involvement at next summer’s World Cup in doubt.

The midfielder will be working with Bayern Munich and German national team doctor Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt, who attended the player’s surgery.

Müller-Wohlfahrt, who is known for his expertise on knee injuries, has previously worked with the likes of Jurgen Klinsmann, Michael Owen, Steven Gerrard and Michael Ballack.
