‘I’ve not heard from Sepp…’

Cristiano Ronaldo today has joked that he has yet to hear from Sepp Blatter, as he muses on his injury and Real Madrid’s ambition for the season.

The 28-year-old today has collected the Alfredo Di Stefano Award at the annual Marca awards, recognising him as the best player of 2012-13.

Presented the award by the Madrid legend himself, the Portuguese then faced the media, who looked for the latest on his public falling out with Sepp Blatter.

The FIFA President has said that he has called Ronaldo to apologise for a recent video that showed him doing a bizarre impersonation of the player, before labelling him a ‘commander’.

“I don’t have a telephone. My secretary has not passed on to me any information about that call,” responded Ronaldo today, before then facing the next most discussed topic regarding him, the Ballon d’Or

“The most important thing is to enjoy this award that Alfredo Di Stefano has come to give to me with much sacrifice. I’ve seen some of his videos and he was a phenomenon.

“My condition? Now I am no longer injured. I have been fine for a couple of days. We preferred not to force it against Valladolid but for the next game I will be certain.

“I’m in a good moment, it may be the best start of my career, but in recent years I have been very good too. The formula for success is hard work.”

The forward was asked of Madrid’s potential title rivals being Barcelona and Atletico Madrid this year, and then which he would choose between winning the Champions League or World Cup this season.

“I’m not surprised about Atletico, they have been very strong since last year and are a well organised team with a great Coach, great players, a very good goalkeeper.

“They will fight to win the League and are a very strong candidate. However, I have the conviction that Madrid is going to win it.

“The Champions League and World Cup? These are things to think about when we get to them. Now I am with Madrid to try to win the League and the Champions League, as Madrid should in every year.

“And when we get to the World Cup we shall see. We must be thinking about the present and the present is Madrid.

“We are growing, slowly improving and we are fine. The thing I want is to help the team and to continue doing things well until the end of the season, which is when the League is won.”
