‘Ronaldo will spend his career at Madrid’

Real Madrid President Florentino Perez has claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo will ‘spend the rest of his career’ with Los Blancos.

The Santiago Bernabeu side’s chief was speaking at a members’ meeting in the capital, and insisted that their star Portuguese forward would be with them until he retires.

“We have a fantastic team with a player who is defining an age,” he said to gathering onlookers.

“We are immensely proud that Cristiano Ronaldo is with us – he will spend the rest of his career at Real Madrid.

“He is the greatest player on the planet, and one of the greatest of all time. Furthermore, we have strengthened with the acquisition of Bale who has twice been named player of the year in the Premier League.

“Thus, we are continuing the model set out by Bernabéu, according to which there is a blend of the best players in the world, the best Spanish players and a strong commitment to the youth system.

“They are all managed by Ancelotti, who is a recognised winner. He comes with the necessary experience to lead this impressive team and he is able to call on the invaluable assistance of Zinedine Zidane.

“The world is in an increasingly difficult situation and most football clubs no longer belong to their members. Only the members of the club are the real owners and the masters of its style.

“Today, we are experiencing a situation of economic and institutional solvency to be faithful to our history on behalf of all the members who endeavoured to ensure that this was the case. For the ninth year in a row, we are the sporting institution with the largest revenue, despite the economic situation, and we have been recognised as the most valuable institution in the world by the prestigious Forbes magazine.

“That's why we are the most acutely observed club, but the constant demands help us to become stronger and that is an inescapable value. As part of the Real Madrid family, we have an impeccable spirit of self-improvement.”
