‘As long as we don’t draw Barca…’

Laurent Blanc has made clear his hope for Paris Saint-Germain to specifically avoid Barcelona in the next round of the Champions League.

The French outfit yesterday evening assured passage to the Last 16 of the competition as winners of Group C after a home victory over Olympiacos.

For their Coach, avoiding Tata Martino’s side, who last year under Tito Vilanova eliminated PSG at the quarter-final stage, would be ideal.

“It is hard to say what our hopes in the competition are,” Blanc has mused this week to reporters.

“Our first ambition was to advance beyond the group stage and to finish first.

“We have done this and I am very satisfied.

“Now we can wait for the [Last 16] draw and hope that we do not have to play a great team like that one playing in Catalunya, you know who I mean.

“That would allow us to continue the adventure. We have ambition, but do not see me celebrating just yet.”
