Madrid confirm Ronaldo injury

Real Madrid have reported that Cristiano Ronaldo has suffered a thigh injury, but it is believed to be only a minor complaint.

The Portuguese was withdrawn early into the second half of Madrid’s 5-0 win at Almeria on Saturday night complaining of discomfort and today underwent tests.

On from indicating himself to reporters that he is ‘fine’, the club have confirmed only that Ronaldo has suffered a thigh injury in his left leg.

Details on the severity of the injury or his projected recovery period are not given, but it is expected that he will not face Galatasaray this midweek as a precautionary measure, but that he could be fit by the weekend, depending on the evolution of the injury.

Today’s training at Valdebebas, meanwhile, saw Gareth Bale, Xabi Alonso and Raphael Varane work separate from the main group in the gym.
