Djukic won’t blame Valencia players

Boss Miroslav Djukic has refused to blame his Valencia players for the 2-1 defeat at Elche.

Instead, the Serbian lamented the fact his team had tossed away so many clear-cut chances to have won the clash at the Martinez Valero.

“We played our best game of the season because we dominated the play and created some good opportunities.

“However, with each passing minute it weighs on your mind when these are not converted into goals,” he told reporters.

“Nonetheless, we must to continue to work hard as playing well has not earned us anything.

“We had a defensive failure for Elche’s second goal when we were going forward to try and win the game, and we paid for it.”

Djukic acknowledged that the players in the dressing room felt deflated, but insisted it cannot all be put down to bad luck.

“We need to improve our concentration and some defensive aspects,” he said.
