Chory: Real must believe

Chory Castro says that Real Sociedad must play with belief and ‘without nervousness’ if they are to succeed against Shakhtar Donetsk this week.

The Basques travel out to Ukraine this Wednesday for the fifth round of Champions League group matches, eager for a win to keep alive faint hopes of progression in Europe.

For their Uruguayan forward, the right mentality will be key to achieving the right result.

“We must go there with the thing in mind that this is by no means impossible, far from it,” Chory Castro has told reporters today.

“We must be calm, and without a nervousness that may lead us to do crazy things and make mistakes, because when these teams move ahead, they are very difficult to come back against.

“We are ready for one of the two finals we now face in the Champions League.

“Our intention is to push until the very end. We already know of them, we are left with the feeling of having done a good job [in the previous group meeting] and it was only for the small details that we did not take the points, so I think that we can win over there.

“It was important to win the first game for everything that we could have followed that with, it has cost us, because we have made some mistakes. We cannot commit these in this match because we are playing for our last hope, the last chance to make it to the next phase.

“Shakhtar are very fast and have a lot of quality. We must be careful not to let them counter-attack against us, we must play a game where it costs them to take the ball, because they are very comfortable with it.

“We have a couple of days to put the team together, but whoever plays will go out there to win.

“Whenever we have scored first we have taken the result, so it is a good statistics to continue and hopefully we will.”
