Cristiano Ronaldo revealed the reason he came off injured in Real Madrid’s 5-0 win over Almeria was as a precaution.
The Portuguese left the pitch on 51 minutes after a tackle from Aleix Vidal with what the Madrid medical staff initially diagnosed as a dead leg in the back of his left thigh.
Ronaldo immediately looked to the bench and asked to come off, Jese Rodriguez taking his place, but afterwards played down the significance of his injury.
“It's a knock. It's nothing serious,” he told radio programme Carrusel Deportivo.
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti was also relaxed it, saying he thought it was “nothing serious because he is not in any pain”.
