Ronaldinho applauds Cristiano

Ronaldinho has applauded Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent form and Portugal’s qualification for next year’s World Cup in Brazil.

The former Barcelona striker watched the Real Madrid man’s magnificent hat-trick for his country in the midweek play-off victory over Sweden, and revealed it was a performance that was acclaimed in his own country.

“The Portugal-Sweden play-off was spoken about a lot in Brazil. Two teams, two superstars. One of them, Ibrahimovic, was my teammate at Milan and the other sometimes an opponent, yet it was Cristiano that made the difference,” the 33-year-old told O Jogo.

“I’d like to say that it’s going to be a great pleasure to welcome him to Brazil, because our people recognise talent.

“Portuguese football has lots of footballers with great technical ability, and there are also Brazilians there who help to do a great job.

“It’s going to be a great World Cup, the best ever with eight previous winners all in attendance.”
