Reina: Brazil are favourites

Pepe Reina believes that the pressure next summer at the World Cup will predominantly be on Brazil to win it.

Spain will head out to the South American country for next summer’s competition looking to defend their trophy won in South Africa and to also follow up duel European Championship victories.

However, for one of La Roja’s regular squad members, the Selecao will face the pressure and expectation as competition hosts.

“Brazil are very clear favourites,” Reina has told reporters this week.

“They are playing at home, they are a strong team and the pressure will be on them.

“They are required to win the World Cup, because they are the best right now.”

The on-loan Napoli ‘keeper was talking after training on the Soccer City turf, where Spain will face South Africa just over three years on from winning the 2010 World Cup Final at the venue.

“It is an indescribable feeling to be playing on this pitch.

“Three years ago we experienced the best moment in the history of Spanish football.”
