‘Neymar right to go to Spain’

Luiz Felipe Scolari says that Brazil will benefit at the World Cup from a Neymar picking up ‘new things’ in Barcelona.

The 21-year-old left Santos for the Catalan city last summer and his national team Coach believes it was the right decision, with the World Cup in his home country coming up in 2014.

“It was a big decision to leave Brazil and go to play in Spain,” reiterated Scolari over the weekend to reporters.

“There he is already considered one of the best in the world, something which we already knew when he was playing here.

“Besides, they have a different style and he is learning from the other players. Things have changed and in the World Cup it will come in handy for Brazil.

“Are Brazil reliant on Neymar? No. There is no doubt that he is a star, one of the biggest, one of the best, but we have other players that are also important.

“If he cannot play, we have someone else who will be very good.”
