‘Mourinho wanted me at Madrid’

Oscar has revealed that there were ‘talks’ about him moving to Real Madrid in 2012 before he eventually signed for Chelsea.

The Brazilian youngster moved to Stamford Bridge just over a year ago from Internacional for a fee of just over €20m.

However, he has revealed this week that previous to that he had met with Jose Mourinho, who now his Chelsea manager, when he was still at Real Madrid last year.

“He came to me for the game in Denmark, before the Olympics,” Oscar has told Globoesporte today.

“There were talks but Madrid had the playmaker position well covered.

“There was interest and I knew that I was being looked at. After the game, though, I signed for Chelsea.

“When he arrived at Chelsea he spoke to me. He gives me confidence and I am trying to return that in the field.”
