Atletico Madrid defender Filipe Luis has admitted that he fully understands Diego Costa’s decision to play for Spain.
The Rojiblancos striker decided to turn his back on home nation Brazil, and opted instead for an international career with La Roja.
And the Selecao left-back has claimed that he bears no grudges with his club mate.
“I have no doubt that Diego will succeed with Spain,” he told reporters. “I’m sure he’s going to be very important to them.
“I understand 100 per cent why he’s made the decision he has.
“He’s going to be an important member of the squad, but despite where he was born, he feels more Spanish.
“These are decisions that you have to respect and understand.”
