Khedira suffers ligament tear

Sami Khedira has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury, and will almost certainly be out for the rest of the season.

The Real Madrid midfielder limped off in Germany’s 1-1 draw with Italy last night, and this morning the DFB have confirmed that the Blancos man will have to have surgery.

“Sami will have to be treated surgically,” team doctor Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfarth said.

“We hope to have him for the start of the World Cup.”

Knee ligament injuries usually take six to eight months to recover from.
