Roberto Carlos is confident that Real Madrid record-breaker Cristiano Ronaldo will win the Ballon d’Or this year.
The Portugal international is currently top scorer in La Liga this term, and the former left-back has claimed that the striker should be rewarded with the gong for his performances in 2013.
“Cristiano Ronaldo deserves the Ballon d’Or,” he told teinteresa.es. “And I think this year he is going to get it.
“What Ronaldo is doing, in getting goals so regularly, should be rewarded.
“I think he’s going to win.”
Carlos then commented on Los Blancos’ start to the campaign, and Gareth Bale’s early season form.
“If Madrid play to their best, which they are beginning to do, then I think they will win the League.
“They have a good squad with new, young players, and others with more experience. I think the project looks great.
“Bale is one of the best in the world. He proved that in England and has already started doing some great things at Real Madrid.
“I’m sure he’s going to be one of the best. He’s also young and has room for even more improvement.”
