Karanka set for Middlesbrough job?

Former Real Madrid assistant looks set to be named as the new man in charge at English club Middlesbrough.

Several outlets, including the London Evening Standard, claim that Jose Mourinho’s right-hand man at Santiago Bernabeu is about to take the reins at the Riverside Stadium. The club have confirmed that they will hold a Press conference at 10.30 GMT, although no names have been revealed by the Wearsiders.

Boro sacked Tony Mowbray last week after a poor start to the season, and have turned to the ex-Athletic Bilbao defender in their bid for a new Coach.

This will be Karanka’s first job as No.1, should he be given the position, after turning down an opportunity to work with Mourinho again this season at Chelsea.

The 40-year-old has also been linked with the vacant post at Crystal Palace.
