Fernando Llorente has promised Juventus that his form is only just beginning and that he is currently ‘only at 60 per cent’.
The Spaniard has endured a difficult start to life in Italy since joining Juventus from Athletic Bilbao on a Bosman in the summer, but this week followed up a Champions League goal at the Santiago Bernabeu with another in Turin against Real Madrid.
“These goals give you confidence, but I’m still not in top form. Two years ago, I was offering a superior level of football in the Europa League,” Llorente has reflected this week.
“I feel better with each game, but I know what I can offer and I’m aware that I can still make improvements. Let me say that I’m only at 60 per cent…”
“The draw with Madrid? It was a good result, but the important thing was that we showed we were on the same level as a great side.
“I think if Iker Casillas wasn’t playing, we would have won the game. He was extraordinary, especially in the first half when he made some incredible stops.
“Now we have two tough games coming up, but I’m hopeful. We are working as a team and everyone is giving their all.”
