Messi ‘no’ to Bayern, Chelsea, Madrid

Mundo Deportivo report that Lionel Messi rejected approaches in the summer from Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Real Madrid.

It was reported last month that three unnamed clubs had seen offers made to the player over the summer categorically turned down by the 26-year-old.

Mundo Deportivo have today followed that up with the assertion that the three clubs were Bayern, Chelsea and Madrid.

Specifically, they list Messi’s boot manufacturers Adidas as playing an active role in the situation.

Kit sponsors to Bayern, Chelsea and Madrid, the German company apparently approached first the player and then the club through director Raul Sanllehi with a proposal to pay €125m – half his buyout clause – to help fund a transfer, as well as hand him a 40 per cent pay increase.

It is alleged that Messi made clear his intention was not to leave Barca, indicating that he did not want to listen to any offers presented.
