Ronaldo to ‘boycott FIFA events’

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly determined that he will not attend any future event organised by FIFA, following President Sepp Blatter’s comments.

Blatter was recorded on video recently talking of his preference for Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and labelling the Portuguese as a ‘commander’.

Whilst he has since apologised to Ronaldo, the player, who made clear his view on the matter with a statement released and then through a tongue-in-cheek goal celebration yesterday against Sevilla, is seen as still upset.

AS report that the 28-year-old is intent of boycotting FIFA-organised events in the future, including next January’s Ballon d’Or gala, where he is seen as in contention to once more make the three-man shortlist for the showcase award that evening.

Madrid officials are reportedly working to convince Ronaldo to reconsider his position.
