Martino asks Barca for No 9

As reports indicate that Tata Martino is intent on Barcelona signing a No 9, Borussia Dortmund’s Robert Lewandowski is linked.

Whilst Barcelona officials are seen as planning once more potential moves in the coming winter and summer markets for a new centre-back, it is reported that their Coach has requested that signing a No 9 striker be prioritised.

Sport are running the line that the Argentine has informed the club’s directive that a centre-forward would provide the team with further alternatives in attack, as well as better complement aspects of the current side, as well as Lionel Messi.

Meanwhile, reports in Spain are also suggesting that Barca are monitoring Robert Lewandowski’s current availability.

The Polish international is widely expected to leave Borussia Dortmund at the end of his contract next June, whilst reports have generally assumed that Bayern Munich are his destination.

However, with nothing officially confirmed, it is believed that sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta is looking into the 25-year-old’s situation to see if there is a possibility of Barca picking him up in 2014.
