Borussia deny Ter Stegen deal

Borussia Monchengladbach's sporting director and Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s agent have both denied that a deal with Barcelona has been reached.

Reports in Germany this week have been that the Catalans have reached an agreement to pick up the highly rated 21-year-old goalkeeper for next summer.

However, the club and the player’s representative have now made clear their position.

“No club has approached us or has contacted us,” sporting director Max Eberl has stated this week to Kicker.

“The fact is that we are in contract negotiations. And we are confident that Marc will still be playing with us because the talks are positive.

“Marc is 21 and at his age has to play, he needs 34 games a season.”

The youngster’s agent Gerd vom Bruch also played down Barca’s rumoured action: “The situation with Marc-Andre is unchanged, there is nothing new.

“There have been talks with Borussia over a contract extension and Marc-Andre is now considering that in peace.”

Bild still have it that Barca and Monchengladbach are in talks over Ter Stegen, but that they are not in agreement over valuation, with the Catalans pushing for an initial fee of €8m against the Germans’ €12m asking price.

Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta has also denied that his presence in Germany recently was for Ter Stegen.
