Atletico Madrid President Enrique Cerezo has revealed his ‘disappointment’ at not seeing Diego Simeone make the FIFA Coach of the Year shortlist.
The game’s governing body today released their shortlists for the FIFA Ballon d’Or Award and Coach of the Year Award, with El Cholo one of a number of notable omissions from the latter list.
“He should have been nominated, but unfortunately we are not the ones that make the list,” Cerezo told reporters today.
“Either way, he deserved to be. He is one of those who is most deserving. It is he who has won the most titles in recent years.
“More than angry, I am disappointed. Simeone is the sensation of Europe.”
