Blatter apologises to Ronaldo

FIFA President Sepp Blatter has apologised to Cristiano Ronaldo after the Portugal international took offence at comments made by the official.

The governing body’s chief compared the Real Madrid forward to a ‘hairdresser’ at the Oxford Union at the weekend and admitted that he 'prefered' Lionel Messi.

And after Ronaldo took offence to the comments, Blatter took to Twitter to apologise.

“Dear Cristiano. I apologise if you were upset by my light-hearted answer at private event on Friday,” the message on the social network read.

“I never meant to offend you. I am an honorary 'socio' at Real Madrid, Cristiano & explained we've many talented players in world game, including you. Best wishes.”
