Fede ‘would consider Spain’

Valencia winger Fede Cartabia has claimed that Vicente Del Bosque has spoken to him about playing for Spain.

The Argentina-born wide man has yet to represent his nation at senior level, and has been impressing this term for Los Che.

“He asked me about my situation and if I was Spanish, so the club started working on getting me a Spanish passport,” Fede told Ole.

““I’m thinking about it – though my country comes first. If they keep me in mind, not now but long-term, I’m always going to choose Argentina, but Spain are a great national side.

“I’m Argentinian and I’ll die Argentinian, but if Spain call me up, why not? But I hope I’m selected to play for Argentina because it’s something I’ve dreamed of since I was a kid.

“I have to break through at Valencia first to convince them I can play in the future. At the moment it’s tricky because there are great players in my position.”
