FIFA deny Brazil-Costa call

FIFA have reportedly denied having received a letter from the Brazilian Football Confederation to call up Diego Costa to their national team.

It was reported yesterday that the CBF had sent through a list of 23 players they intended to call for November’s upcoming international friendlies and that it included the Atletico Madrid man’s name.

Luiz Felipe Scolari also commented to reporters that this was the case and it was believed that if Costa was intending to represent Spain instead, then he would have to inform the CBF through official documentation that he was turning down their call.

However, AS say that they have contacted FIFA and had the game’s governing body deny having yet received any notification from Brazil that they intend to call up the player.
