Enrique: Results will mark my work

Luis Enrique says that only results achieved on the pitch will mark if his work at Celta Vigo is good or not.

Four consecutive defeats in La Liga has left the Galicians in 19th place in the table and with their 43-year-old tactician under early-season scrutiny heading into Week 10’s trip out to Malaga.

“If my work is good or not, it will be marked by the results,” countered Enrique to reporters today.

“Everything else in these situations can be overcome with a little more tranquillity, but I know exactly what it is to be a football Coach and a professional at the highest level and it is the results that will determine if I have done a good job or not.

“I’m focused on the upcoming opponents. We need to score a goal more than our opponent. Nothing more.

“We have to be more efficient in attack and we have to make fewer mistakes in defence.

“For the team’s situation, there is more urgency this weekend, and Malaga is not a normal game for us, none will be normal from here on out, because of the situation we are in and the implication and imperativeness that we have to win.

“We have to get the points without thinking of the opponent that we face. We must begin with a win against Malaga.

“Malaga? They are a team that I like, that plays well with the ball, that is good on the wings, good in attack, has a good defensive concept, presses in attack. They are an interesting team, even after many changes.”
