Kaka: Barca experience helped

Ricky Kaka reflected on how past experience helped him in facing Barcelona yesterday, as he also backs Real Madrid in the Clasico.

The former Madrid man proved a notable performer for Milan in Tuesday evening’s 1-1 draw at San Siro with Barca.

Providing the assist for Robinho’s opener, the Brazilian also worked in covering Dani Alves and company at the other end of the pitch.

“Playing against Barcelona so many times, I saw the importance of wingers in marking them, so I realised how to counter them and that it required sacrifices,” Kaka reflected after the game to Sky Sport Italia.

“Both Valter Birsa and I did well in playing that tactical role. The Coach knows where I like to play, but at times like this I needed to help out.

“I try to rediscover my best form. As for Milan, I will do whatever it takes for the group. Here I needed to help out, work as a full-back and then send passes to Robinho.

“The fans? All this affection really helps and is more motivation. I hear them sing every time I step on to the field and there was a really special atmosphere at San Siro tonight. It’s the right place for me to play well.”

The 31-year-old was asked for a score prediction for the weekend’s League Clasico between Barca and Madrid.

“2-1 to Real Madrid.”
