‘Nothing in Hummels-Barca link’

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has rubbished stories that Mats Hummels may enter into talks with Barcelona soon.

It was suggested by Bild this week that Dortmund have an agreement with their centre-back that should a suitable offer from the Catalans come in during next summer, that he would be permitted to open negotiations.

Whilst there was also the hint that Barca may come in with a bid this coming January, the German outfit’s CEO has lookined to make clear the policy.

“Regarding Hummels there is no story. There is absolutely nothing in it,” Watzke has told reporters this week.

“I have no concern for the winter because a player without a contract can leave, but a player with a contract cannot. Such a stance has been made very clear with the Lewandowski case.

“We have lost players, which is normal for Dortmund, but we will certainly not lose more than one key player per season.”
