Former Real Madrid director Jorge Valdano has claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are worth ‘much more’ than €100m.
Gareth Bale joined Los Blancos over the summer for a world-record €91m, and the ex-board member has insisted that the Clasico pair are worth far more than the Welshman.
“Cristiano and Messi are worth much more than €100 million,” he told Radio Marca.
“Bale has got time to prove himself and Madrid is the best place to do so.”
Valdano then commented on the financial situation at Los Blancos.
“Football has been very generous financially to Real Madrid.
“The football side has been solid and perhaps now is the time for the financial side to give way and allow the playing side to be the most prominent aspect.
“Madrid has needed a solid football strategy for some time. Something that is fixed and engraved in the club.”
