Punto Pelota have claimed that Los Blancos representatives have been in contact with Borussia Dortmund regarding the 22-year-old midfielder.
The Germany international has decided not to renew his contract with the Bundesliga side that ends in 2015.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side see Gundogan as the ideal replacement for Xabi Alonso, who is expected to leave Santiago Bernabeu when his deal expires next summer.
The capital club will have to fight the Premier League duo though, who are also said to be keen.
