Wolfsburg to consider Diego sale

Wolfsburg will reportedly look to offload Diego Ribas in January so as to avoid losing him on a free transfer six months later.

The Brazilian playmaker has been consistently linked with a return to Atletico Madrid after 2011-12’s successful loan spell.

Whilst remaining with his Bundesliga employers, Diego has not renewed his contract and sees speculation over his future returning as he approaches the final six months of his current deal.

On from Wolfsburg’s Coach admitting that the player’s role within the team will be ‘assessed’, AS report that the club are prepared to sell him in January, to avoid losing him for nothing in July.

Yesterday saw Diego’s agent, who is also his father, assert that Atletico were still in contact over the 28-year-old’s availability.

It is believed that Djair Ribas is pushing for a move this January to try and rekindle the player’s hopes of making the Brazil squad for next summer’s World Cup.
