Song: I’ll evaluate in January

Alex Song says that he will not evaluate his future at Barcelona or consider a possible return to Arsenal until at least January.

The Cameroon international struggled for regular playing time in his first season at La Blaugrana after a summer 2012 move from The Gunners and into his second season continues to attract speculation.

When asked if a possible exit strategy from the Camp Nou is being drawn up, though, the 26-year-old was clear.

“No, we have a new Coach and so far everything is going well,” Song told Radio Monte Carlo today.

“I have time until January. I will take stock of the situation at that time, but I am not thinking about leaving.

“I am here to keep working, improving and earn the trust of the Coach.

“A return to Arsenal? I do not know what will happen tomorrow. I spent seven fantastic seasons there, but honestly I am not thinking of this at this time.

“Currently I am totally focused on Barcelona.”

The midfielder commented on how he has seen new teammate Neymar adapt to surroundings in Catalonia.

“When he arrived, he was not well and the Coach tried to handle it. Today, he is mentally very well. He has integrated well into the dressing room.

“This is someone who has the joy of living. He loves the work that he does, he participates and listens. No-one can deny his talent. This is demonstrated every day.

“We are fortunate to have a played of great quality. He is going to contribute more to us. With players like him and Messi, we can dominate football for five or six years, Barca will experience great things in the future.”
