Seba Fernandez out for six months

Seba Fernandez has learned he will be sidelined for six months after the cruciate ligament injury he suffered at Valencia in September.

The Rayo Vallecano striker, signed from Malaga before the start of the season, underwent a successful operation in a Madrid clinic on Tuesday evening and the club have issued a statement regarding his condition.

“Rayo Vallecano can report that first team player Seba Fernandez has been operated on successfully after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in his right knee.

“The surgery was carried out at the FREMAP clinic in Majadahonda by Doctors Garcia de Lucas, Abad and Carosini. The initial time out is estimated at six months.

“The club wishes to convey its support to Seba and wishes him the best of luck in his recovery,” it read.

Rayo players have also sent messages of support to the Uruguay international via a video they have recorded.
