Andreu Fontas has praised weekend opponent Diego Costa, but looked to ease tension ahead of Celta Vigo’s trip to Atletico Madrid.
The Galicians travel out to the Vicente Calderon this Sunday lunchtime in a Week 8 fixture that may pit Fontas up against Costa on the pitch.
“He is physically very strong. He is fast, he fights, presses a lot and does very well going forward,” the centre-back has considered this week.
“He is a complete striker and he is in an incredible moment of form.”
Celta head into the fixture on the back of a five-game winless streak, including two consecutive defeats to Getafe and Elche.
“We can understand that people are nervous, but we are calm and united. We must move on, learn and think towards the next game.
“Atleti are a great team and we know that it will be very difficult. We will try to surprise them, we must play a very serious game, fight like them and be alert in both penalty areas.
“We have to try to break things up a bit but it will not be easy. We have been correcting those little things that have hurt us and time we are becoming more complete in every way.
“Now we must be very focused.”
