Gabi hails Atleti work rate

Atletico Madrid midfielder Gabi has praised his teammates work ethic after they came from behind to beat Porto.

Second half goals from Diego Godin and Arda Turan maintained the Rojiblancos 100 per cent record in the Champions League this season.

“I think that the games against [Real Madrid CF and FC Porto] were two vital encounters for us and our team has responded to the expectations,” he told uefa.com.

“We never looked to settle for a draw here – we knew we had a chance to win. The team never gave up and put in a huge work rate.

“The team never gave up and put in a huge work rate. In the opening 20 minutes we struggled to get into the game while our opponents were winning the 50/50 balls and were first to the rebounds.

“At the break we spoke about things and managed to react.

“We are leaving here with a maximum six points on the board in the Champions League.

“The team showed togetherness tonight. When the not so good moments arrive this season we know that the team and our fans are united.”
