Otamendi: The pressure is Porto’s

Nicolas Otamendi has conceded that he and his Porto colleagues will have to push more than Atletico Madrid for the win this Tuesday.

Porto play host to Atletico in the second matchday of the Champions League group stages with both teams level at the top of Group G with three points apiece.

However, the Portuguese outfit’s Argentine centre-back believes that it will be his side required to do all the pushing for more than a draw.

“We are aware that we are playing this game in front of our fans and that the pressure will be ours to get a win,” Otamendi reflected in today’s Press conference.

“We will try to play a good game, have order in each line of the team and perform well at a collective level.

“The high level of Atletico will force us to stay focused during the 90 minutes.

“Atletico are a good team and are second in the Spanish League, challenging with Real Madrid and Barcelona, but we are also leading our championship.

“Each team has its own way of playing, they are a good team, but so are we, plus, we are playing at home and we will do everything to get the win tomorrow.”

Otamendi was linked with a move to Atleti this summer.

I'm at a fantastic club, playing in the Champions League. There was never anything concrete with Atletico, those were just rumours.

“Nobody from Atletico spoke with me, and I am just focused on Porto. I will defend my blue shirt until the end and fight for our victory tomorrow night.”
