‘Rami is in Valencia’s hands’

Miroslav Djukic says that resolving Adil Rami’s situation is now down to Valencia, as he focuses on managing the team.

The Coach met with President Amadeo Salvo, sporting director Braulio Vazquez and director general Luis Cervera on Thursday to discuss with club lawyers how to deal with the French international’s outburst.

Rami criticised Djukic and his teammates on radio and on from being sent home from the squad in midweek and today has been handed an initial suspension from the club on gross misconduct.

Where the club go from there, says Los Che’s Coach, is not down to him.

“It is up to the club and not me, I have already told them my opinion, they will sort out the issue, I have to dedicate myself to the team,” Djukic has reflected to reporters today.

“Will we replace him in the transfer market? First we have to resolve this issue and then we will seen.

“Rami is currently a player at Valencia and Valencia will decided what to do. I am here to work for Valencia and the club will decide what is best for him.”

In Rami’s absence in the team has come Victor Ruiz.

“It has been an extraordinary response from him, he is proving to be a great professional, he is available to the club, to the team.

“When he has had to play and when he has not, he has accepted it. The other day he played a sensational match, very complete, alert and above all has been his professionalism.

“When he has not been playing there has been no issue at any time and when he has been presented with an opportunity, he has taken it.”

Djukic and his side head into Week 7 looking for a third consecutive win and will host bottom side Rayo Vallecano.

“The confidence of the team is growing, we will keep improving, the most important thing is to maintain our level of competitiveness, continue to provide a defensive security.

“Rayo are not the bottom club in the League for me, they play good football, are very good, intense, I know very well their Coach, we expect a very difficult game.

“We will have to be very focused on the game because last year we began very poorly against Rayo. We must be prepared, compete well, because we will be pushed to the maximum.

“With quality only you cannot win, you have to have intensity.”
