Getafe President Angel Torres has laid claim to the signing of Ciprian Marica, beating Rayo Vallecano and a number of Premier League sides.
The Romanian international is a free agent after being released by Bundesliga side Schalke and had reportedly attracted offers from the likes of Arsenal and West Ham in England.
Whilst the 27-year-old’s agent had indicated earlier this week that talks with Rayo Vallecano had also broken down, Getafe have now looked to have secured Marica’s services.
Club President Angel Torres indicated overnight on Cadena SER that the capital club had reached an agreement and that only final signatures are currently missing.
The striker, who has scored 22 times for his country, is reportedly training with his prospective new teammates on Friday and will be available to Coach Luis Garcia from next week.
