United ‘bid €120m for Bale’

Manchester United reportedly made a £100m, €120m bid for Gareth Bale this summer, before his switch out to Real Madrid.

Yesterday saw Madrid President Florentino Perez indicate that interest from The Red Devils prompted him to move for the 24-year-old this summer.

Subsequently, reports in England today suggest that Bale, who moved to Madrid this summer for a fee reported between €90m and €100m, was indeed the subject of a move from United.

It is alleged in more than one publication that a bid from the English champions was tabled for the Welshman and that it was much higher than the amount Madrid paid out.

United reportedly offered Tottenham a figure of £100m, approximately €120m, to try and pick up the attacking winger.

The Daily Mirror suggest that it was enough to prompt Bale to hold late talks with the Premier League side, before eventually moving to the Santiago Bernabeu.
