‘This must be a turning point’

Miroslav Djukic has urged Valencia to build on their 3-1 win over Sevilla to put behind them a recent crisis.

Los Che eased pressure on their Coach on Sunday evening with a win at Mestalla against Unai Emery’s Sevilla, with a double from Jonas followed up by Victor Ruiz’s late goal.

“This must be a turning point for us,” Djukic stated after the game.

“We have shown that there is unity and the key has been the support of everyone to try and get the team to where it should be.

“We understood that everything should be simpler, to play more and to drive less, to give speed and the game has been very fluid.”

Reports before the game suggested that a negative result may have spelled the end for the Serb’s time in charge.

“I hope that this has been our ‘match-ball’, as this game we faced reinforces much of what is here, which is a lot.

“The players have released themselves and have done their job in a game against a big rival, which has made us stronger, thanks also to the public’s support.”
