Luis Enrique: A crazy game

Luis Enrique refused to think of ‘what if’ for Celta Vigo, suggesting that the ‘small details’ let them down in defeat to Athletic Bilbao.

The Galicians fell to a 3-2 defeat on Monday night, but saw opening goalscorer Charles squander a first-half penalty.

“It was a crazy game, with comings and goings on the scoreboard and two good teams with clear ideas of what they want to do,” mused Enrique post-match.

“In the end, a game of this type is decided by the small details. We have had the clear chances to score, but these are hypothetical. To win here, those details are key.”

The Coach was asked of the new San Mames that hosted the fixture.

“This ground cannot be more beautiful. We have raised our game for the enjoyment and the show to do as much damage as possible to Athletic and we tried to live up to the stage, although it was hard.

“But we will follow the line we have marked out. The objective is clear and there remains everything before we can get to it.”
