Oliver Kahn believes that Barcelona and Spanish football is past its prime and that German clubs have ‘no-one to fear’ in Europe this year.
Last season’s Champions League saw Barca and Real Madrid defeated at the semi-final stage in convincing manner by eventual champions Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund respectively.
For Bayern’s former captain and goalkeeper, the Catalans in particular are in no position to bounce back.
“I believe that Barcelona are past their prime,” Kahn has told TV Movie this week.
“There is no team in Europe for who a German team must have fear.
“I think that Bayern have many intelligent players and can rise to the challenge [of retaining the Champions League].
“The continued success of Bayern always relies on change and new ideas.”
