PSG eye Figo as sporting director

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly interested in signing Luis Figo as their new sporting director to replace Leonardo.

The Brazilian, who has a lengthy suspension in French football for pushing a match official and unsuccessfully appealing, has now ended his role with the Parisians, after announcing his resignation during the summer and serving through until the end of the transfer window.

A number of names have been linked with the post, which PSG are seen as in no hurry to fill, with the summer market having just ended.

However, Le Parisien say that the capital club have drawn up a list of provisional candidates and former Real Madrid and Inter winger Figo is on it.

Alongside the 40-year-old Portuguese, who serves in an ambassadorial director’s role at Inter, PSG are seen to be considering their former striker Pedro Miguel Pauleta, as well as current director Jean-Claude Blanc.

Even so, it is believed that Figo is currently favourite amongst those at the Parc des Princes to replace Leonardo.
