Reports in Spain have it that Fabio Coentrao’s proposed move from Real Madrid to Manchester United was not completed in time last night.
Despite the indication given that the full-back was set to stay with Los Blancos heading into the season, reports broke late on the final day of the transfer window that United were trying to settle a quick deal.
Subsequently, this also saw Madrid apparently delay Guilherme Siqueira’s loan from Granada to Benfica, as he was lined up as Los Blancos’ preferred replacement for the Portuguese.
However, outlets in Spain are this morning suggesting that United’s proposed loan swoop for Coentrao was run through too late and he will remain in the capital.
With indications coming through to Portugal on this state of affairs, Benfica are also claiming that they have completed Siqueira’s loan move. FIFA will approve this deal on Tuesday and it is believed it is just a formality.
